Uniform Stuff
Some hints for taking care of your gear and ordering back-up uniforms.
Jersey Care
- Wash the jerseys as soon as possible after use. Do not leave wet, dirty gear in bags – unless you like the smell and are not opposed to stains.
- Do not wash with pads or other abrasive materials. Preferably wash them with other performance fabrics (dry-fit, synthetics, nylon, spandex, etc.).
- Wash on the shortest possible cycle with a gentle detergent (a tablespoon of Zote soap flakes – https://www.amazon.com/gp/
product/B01LKPQ3LS/ – is a good choice) - Ideally, you should hang your jerseys to dry. If you must use the dryer, ensure it is on the lowest heat and time cycle, and do not use dryer sheets.
Cleaning Your Lax Pads
- Do not leave your pads zipped in your bag or car overnight. They need to air out. Do so in a cool, dry place after practices and games.
- Give your lax pads a full wash every few months.
- Confirm the gear is machine washable. If so, run them through on a gentle, short cycle. If not, hand wash them in cool water. In both cases, use mild detergent.
- Never put pads in the dryer. It will damage them and cause them to shrink. Instead, lay them out flat and give them time to air dry.
- If you wash your gloves, you can stuff a small, dry wash cloth inside to help absorb water.
